For all trail running enthusiasts, the must-attend event of the year is rapidly approaching! The trail Alsace Grand Est by UTMB will take place on May 18, 2024, and promises a unique experience in the heart of the Alsatian region. Whether you are a veteran of extreme races or just curious to discover new landscapes, this event has surprises in store for you.
An exceptional course through the iconic sites of the region
The trail Alsace Grand Est by UTMB offers a unique opportunity to discover the castles, picturesque trails, and beautiful landscapes of Alsace. The 4 proposed courses will take you from Colmar to Obernai, passing through the most emblematic places of the region. You will thus live a memorable adventure, exploring the cultural, gastronomic, and historical heritage of Alsace.
- 20K: start in Barr on Sunday at 10:30 AM, arrival in Obernai on Sunday at 1:00 PM
- 50K: start in Barr on Monday at 7:00 AM, arrival in Obernai on Monday at 10:40 AM
- 100K: start in Orschwiller on Sunday at 10:00 AM, arrival in Obernai on Sunday at 8:30 PM
- 100M: start in Colmar on Friday at 8:00 PM, arrival in Obernai on Saturday at 1:40 PM
Whether you choose the 20K distance or the 100M, you will have the opportunity to push your limits and enjoy the incredible views offered by the 19 climbs and the 6,300 m of cumulative elevation gain of the longest course. The ramparts of Obernai will mark the finish line, and you will be able to proudly contemplate your achievement.
Participants from Alsace of all ages
The trail Alsace Grand Est by UTMB is also an opportunity to showcase local talents. Among the participants, we are pleased to count Alexandre Labbe, the youngest of the event across all distances. At just 20 years old, this STAPS student is taking on a 50K for the first time. A CrossFit enthusiast used to pushing his limits, Alexandre dreams of one day participating in the UTMB in Chamonix.
We also have Anais Wachenheim, 19 years old, who will undertake her first trail on the 20K, accompanied by her boyfriend. It’s a whole family story since her father will participate in the 100K and her mother will be volunteering for the event. The young volunteer firefighter hopes to share her passion with her loved ones and enjoy the Alsatian trails.
Many other local participants are also ready to take on the challenge. Juliane Wibert, a 37-year-old nurse, is embarking on her first 100M, encouraged by her parents and passionate about trail running in the northern Vosges. Arthur Bouhours, a 20-year-old medical student, aims to make the most of his youth by giving his all in the 100M. Edgar Ging, a 71-year-old retired police officer, is not backing down and plans to participate in his first UTMB after the trail Alsace Grand Est.
Finally, Martin Velsch, 39, is preparing for the Dacia UTMB Mont-Blanc and sees the trail Alsace Grand Est as a home rehearsal. Michael Albiero, an agency director in IT, has quickly gone from beginner to ultra-trailer and wishes to experience better effort management during the trail Alsace Grand Est.
