The water levels are receding after the severe weather in Alsace
Two days after the floods that submerged part of northern Alsace, the affected rivers are gradually regaining their beds, but remain under close surveillance this Sunday.
Rivers still under high surveillance
After the exceptional floods that submerged several areas of northern Alsace on Friday, the water levels are receding, but several rivers remain under high surveillance, details the Vigicrues service this Sunday morning.
The Bas-Rhin remains under orange alert due to the level of the Eichel. In one of the communes hardest hit, Diemeringen, the tributary of the Saar reached a level of 3.40 m at the peak of the event on Friday night, and remained at 2.08 m this Sunday morning, compared to 0.67 m before the flood.
Zorn, Zinsel, and Moder, which also overflowed, are continuing to recede and are now under yellow alert.
Caution for upcoming storms
Moreover, all of Alsace, like three-quarters of France, is on yellow alert for storms starting from midday this Sunday, indicates Météo France.
It is therefore important to remain cautious and to follow the recommendations of the relevant authorities.
