In the picturesque meanders of Alsace Grand Est, an astonishing trend is emerging: the rise of villages as future economic hubs. What changes are on the horizon for these jewels of our region? Let’s explore the Trail Alsace Grand Est and the fascinating prospects it opens up for the local economy.
Trail Alsace Grand Est: Will these villages become the new economic centers of the region?
The sporting event Trail Alsace Grand Est, supported by the European community of Alsace and the Grand Est Region, is fast approaching and promises to draw crowds. This event includes four races through the villages of Dambach-la-Ville, Andlau, Klingenthal, Rosheim, and Obernai, and will last until Monday.
“Hosts have very good booking rates”
The town of Obernai, which is one of the finish towns for the races, is already packed. The eleven hotels in the town are fully booked, with half of the reservations made by runners and their families who have come to support them. The same situation applies to the municipal camping site. The Mayor of Obernai, Bernard Fischer, notes with satisfaction the genuine enthusiasm generated by the event, similar to that of the previous year.
This influx of tourists will certainly stimulate the economy of the region. Marc Lévy, the General Director of Alsace Destination Tourisme (ADT), emphasizes the importance of attracting visitors from afar who might never have considered visiting Alsace otherwise. The appeal of the Trail Alsace Grand Est is thus an opportunity for the participating villages to position themselves as must-visit tourist destinations.
Revised routes to attract athletes
The organizers of the Trail Alsace Grand Est do not wish to stop there. To retain athletes and encourage them to return for the next edition, surprises are planned along the routes. Runners will enjoy hearing medieval music and lyrical songs as they pass near the region’s castles. This unique experience will add a cultural and festive touch to the event, thus enhancing the appeal of the Alsatian villages.
The Trail Alsace Grand Est is therefore much more than just a sporting event. It is becoming a true economic engine for the participating villages. With the influx of tourists and the highlighting of their cultural attractions, these villages stand a great chance of becoming new economic centers of the region.
