When to see a football match in Strasbourg?
Ligue 1 matches are normally played from August to May, with the final matchday in mid-May.
To make the most of this unique experience, it is best to arrive at the stadium about forty minutes before kick-off. Security checks are thorough, so otherwise you may miss the whole pre-match show.
Arriving early also gives you plenty of time to get in and grab something to eat. But don’t arrive too early either, or you may get bored.
Where to see the match?
Racing plays its home matches at the Meinau, where renovation work is set to raise capacity to around 32,000 spectators. The stadium is south of the city centre, in the Meinau district.
Seeing a Ligue 1 match at the Meinau is an extraordinary experience, in an exceptional stadium that hosts one major music and sporting event after another… Thrills guaranteed!
How to get to the Stade de la Meinau?
By car
The Stade de la Meinau is 3 km from Strasbourg city centre, in the north of the Meinau district
12, rue de l’Extenwoerth
67100 STRASBOURG.
The best way to get there is the A35 motorway, then follow signs for Meinau. Car parks are also available for your vehicle.
By public transport
The Stade de la Meinau can be reached by several means of transport: tram and train.
The SNCF station of Krimmeri-Meinau is close to the stadium.
However, tram lines A and E, getting off at Krimmeri – Stade de la Meinau or Lycée Couffignal, get you there faster.
Tram line C also serves Gravière – Stade de la Meinau, about a ten-minute walk from the stadium.

When to book your ticket?
Although you can buy tickets at the stadium gates, it is strongly recommended to book your Ligue 1 tickets online as early as possible. Booking online has many advantages, especially in terms of time and money.
Remember to create an account in advance, as soon as tickets go on sale, usually around mid-August.
Where to book your ticket?
Racing’s ticket office is the best platform for booking your tickets. Prices are good value, the website is in French and secure, and customer service is very responsive.
On the club’s website you will only see the matches with tickets on sale. You can also choose your seat in the stadium.
Otherwise, you can buy tickets on the spot, but beware of last-minute tickets: prices are often sky-high and the seats available are not always the best. Unless you are happy to spend over 100 euros on top of the ticket price.
How much does a ticket cost and which seat should you choose?
Ticket prices depend on several factors:
- Where your seat is – the closer you are to the pitch, the more expensive the tickets
- When in the season the match takes place
- How prestigious the opponent is
If you book in advance, during the regular season and against less prestigious teams, you can get tickets for around 12 to 40 euros. For big matches, if you book on the day, tickets can cost between 200 and 300 euros.
The best seats are in the central section of the South Présidentielle stand

Useful information and practical tips
Accommodation
Ideally you would look for somewhere to stay near the stadium, but it is a long way from the city centre. However, the tram in Strasbourg runs until late at night, though less frequently. Either way, you will easily find hotels a little further out, closer to the city centre or the station.
Food and drink
You will find stalls inside the stadium for a quick bite! For more varied and more affordable menus, pop into the restaurants in the city centre.
