Since 1570, Strasbourg has held its Christkindelsmärik every winter, one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe. In 2026, eight markets set up in the historic centre, from the Place Broglie to the foot of the cathedral, with the Grand Sapin (Great Christmas Tree) on the Place Kléber as the meeting point.

Getting there and parking
Motor vehicles are banned from the Grande Île during the market, and access checks are set up at the entrance to the bridges. The simplest options:
- By tram: lines A, C, D and F serve the area around the market squares.
- By car: park in a park-and-ride car park (P+R): €4.20 per day, with a return tram trip included for all passengers in the vehicle.
- By train: from Strasbourg station, the historic centre can be reached on foot or by tram.
What to eat and drink

From chalet to chalet, you can taste white or red mulled wine, gingerbread and bredele, the little Alsatian Christmas biscuits. Every drink is served in a cup with a €1 deposit: return it to any chalet selling drinks to get your euro back, or keep it as a souvenir.
Practical information

- Reduced mobility: the City lends wheelchairs and walking frames free of charge and offers adapted guided tours.
- Toilets: accessible toilets are installed within the market area.
- Security: access checks take place at the entrance to the bridges, so bring a light bag.

Hi, I'm Enzo! I'm the guy who loves lacing up his hiking boots to explore the rugged trails of the Vosges. Passionate about nature and photography, I take you along through articles that capture the scent of fir forests and the charm of mountain lakes. I live for those moments when the sun rises over the Haut-Koenigsbourg or when I stumble upon an authentic inn along the way. My goal? To inspire you to get out, breathe in the fresh Alsatian air, and always have a great spot for a tarte flambée to share at the end of the day.
