The festivities begin on 20 November

On Friday 20 November 2026, head to the town centre from 17:00 for the entertainment, then at 18:00 for the official launch of the Christmas festivities: the town’s lights are switched on and the chalets officially open, followed by street performances by several companies for young and old (free access).

Entertainment and festivities

The Haguenau Christmas market is not only a place to find handmade gifts or culinary delights; it is also the stage for a wide variety of entertainment. For five weeks, activities, exhibitions, concerts, storytelling and encounters with legendary characters set the pace of the season. Children will love the 1900 carousel on Place de la République, which carries them on wooden animals: horses, donkeys, lions and even a stork.

Chalets and local products

The Christmas market chalets are carefully decorated and offer a wide range of products: local and handmade goods, Christmas decorations, gift ideas and seasonal treats. Visitors can enjoy gingerbread, a good mulled wine or a dampfnudel (steamed sweet bun), a speciality of northern Alsace that locals are particularly fond of.

La Halle des Créateurs (the makers’ hall)

On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November 2026, from 10:00, 75 artisans gather at the Halle aux Houblons (Grand’rue) to exhibit and sell paintings, sculptures, pottery, embroidery, Christmas decorations, jewellery, Alsatian kelsch (traditional linen) and lamps. The Café des Créateurs, run by the Scouts et Guides de France, is the place to share a hot drink. Free access – 03 88 73 30 41.

Christmas market at the EHPAD Barberousse

On Saturday 28 November 2026, from 13:00, the EHPAD Barberousse care home of the Haguenau hospital (1 rue du Château) holds its Christmas market in its veranda: Christmas decorations, bredele, mulled wine, hot chocolate and cakes. Free access.

Atmosphere and decorations

The streets of the pedestrian zone are transformed into a fairy-tale setting. The town centre is adorned with a thousand colours and the lights create a magical backdrop for walkers, inviting everyone to enjoy the simple pleasures of the season.

Enzo

Hi, I'm Enzo! I'm the guy who loves lacing up his hiking boots to explore the rugged trails of the Vosges. Passionate about nature and photography, I take you along through articles that capture the scent of fir forests and the charm of mountain lakes. I live for those moments when the sun rises over the Haut-Koenigsbourg or when I stumble upon an authentic inn along the way. My goal? To inspire you to get out, breathe in the fresh Alsatian air, and always have a great spot for a tarte flambée to share at the end of the day.
