The best places to visit in Strasbourg

Strasbourg is renowned for its historic monuments and cultural sites. You can’t really say you’ve explored Strasbourg without visiting at least a few of the following:

  • Notre-Dame Cathedral: The famous Gothic cathedral stands at the heart of Strasbourg’s old town and is one of the finest examples of medieval architecture in France.
  • Place Kléber: Nicknamed the “historic heart” of Strasbourg, this lively pedestrian square lies right in the city centre. Here you’ll find restaurants, cafés, shops and monuments that are part of Alsace’s historic heritage.
  • La Petite France: This charming district is full of typical Alsatian houses and striking canals, once home to tanners, millers and fishermen. Its narrow streets give you a real sense of adventure as you wander through the historic centre.
  • Historical Museum: Housed in the former Grande Boucherie, a 16th-century building, this museum displays a wealth of paintings, armour and historic objects that trace the history of the city and the region.

And the list doesn’t stop there! Once you’re in Strasbourg, there are plenty more unmissable sights, such as the Ponts Couverts (Covered Bridges), characterful districts like the Neustadt, the neighbouring town of Schiltigheim, and the Palais Rohan.

What to do in Strasbourg?

Strasbourg isn’t just famous for its architectural gems; it’s also a vibrant city with lots of things to do:

Enzo

Hi, I'm Enzo! I'm the guy who loves lacing up his hiking boots to explore the rugged trails of the Vosges. Passionate about nature and photography, I take you along through articles that capture the scent of fir forests and the charm of mountain lakes. I live for those moments when the sun rises over the Haut-Koenigsbourg or when I stumble upon an authentic inn along the way. My goal? To inspire you to get out, breathe in the fresh Alsatian air, and always have a great spot for a tarte flambée to share at the end of the day.
