Ingredients for 4 people

  • 1.5 kg of raw sauerkraut
  • 1 kg of Strasbourg sausages
  • 1 kg of smoked bacon
  • 4 large onions
  • 1 bottle of Alsatian white wine
  • 4 potatoes

Preparation Steps: Sauerkraut Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Wash the cabbage and cut it into strips.
  3. Peel and chop the onions.
  4. In a cast iron pot, heat the olive oil and brown the onions in it.
  5. Add the sauerkraut and the white wine and let it cook for 30 minutes.
  6. Add the sausages and bacon, and bake for 20 minutes.
  7. Serve with the potatoes.

Recommended Wines

To accompany your sauerkraut, we recommend a dry white wine from Alsace such as Riesling or Gewurztraminer.

You can add carrots, apples, or prunes to your sauerkraut.
